Shaka Smart is an American college basketball coach. He is currently the head coach for the Men's Basketball team at Marquette University.
Early Career: Smart gained prominence during his time as the head coach at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). He led the Rams to a surprising Final Four appearance in the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
University of Texas: After VCU, he became the head coach at the University%20of%20Texas. His tenure there, while not as successful as his VCU days, saw some NCAA Tournament appearances.
Marquette University: Smart was hired as the head coach at Marquette%20University in 2021. He has found considerable success at Marquette, including a Big East regular season title.
Coaching Style: Smart is known for his energetic and up-tempo "Havoc" defensive pressure system.
